About Empowerment Day

A few years ago, I went through a  series of events that altered my lifestyle which, in most cases, would make an individual breakdown; curl up; and give up. However, every time I would go through these negative episodes, it would be counteracted by something more positive and optimistic.  It would give me strength, courage and endurance to continue on life’s unknown journey. Yet, every time I notice this it was on the 21st day of the month that I may be experiencing such a dramatic time. So, I began to look back in my journal and noticed the pattern in my entries for the 21st of each month: a solution for the issue; wisdom from a friend; constructive criticism; and my favorite and the reason for the title of my blog…Empowered Results!

I believe everyone has an Empowerment Day or at least should have a day like that! Although the actual anniversary date for my Empowerment Day  is January 21st every month I celebrate Empowerment Day! Of course, it’s on the 21st day of each month.  On this day, I either do something for me personally or towards my businesses or both.

On the personal side, I may do a spa day by myself or with a group a people; go on a long walk; play hooky from work; learn a new skill – any thing that focuses on or treats me. You know, some ‘me time’!  🙂  On the business side, I will attend a conference; start a new venture; regroup on things that may not be doing well; update my business plan for the bed & breakfast I will one day open ( 🙂 ) . You know, anything to improve my business world.  As for doing something for  both sides, whoever said you should not mix business with pleasure needs to attend one of my Empowerment Day! LOL! It will be an experience never forgotten! Good example would be going to a trade show and ending it with a wonderful Asian cuisine!  Or going to a conference in another state and have a spa moment during the lunch break! Incredible!

I share this post with you because I want to encourage you to find that day for yourself. Men should do it too! Oh, and don’t forget to have a theme song for yourself too! Mine is Unwritten by   Natasha Bedingfield! As my fellow Bloggist, Koco of Life, Love & Lyricality would do, I have posted the lyrics for you to read below!

Happy Empowerment Day!

Yours truly!

“Unwritten”

I am unwritten, can’t read my mind, I’m undefined
I’m just beginning, the pen’s in my hand, ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Oh, oh, oh

I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines
We’ve been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can’t live that way

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten

Oh, yeah, yeah
