Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day was established so we can remember the men and women who died while serving our country. So, I ask, how do you show your support for those who given their lives for us so we can such freedom we sometimes take for granted?
Tomorrow is a day which typically marks the beginning of summer. Many of us will choose to have BBQs, go to parties, etc… Yet, this day is not just one of those long 3 days of celebration of not having to work . It is a day to respectfully, honor our soldiers of the Armed Forces. Are you truly grateful for the fact that such people as your family and your friends were a part of your nation’s history?
When you lift up your first beer/wine/whiskey tomorrow…honor the men and women who gave you such liberty to walk in a nation such as ours. Perhaps, go to a local cemetary and place a yellow rose for courage on a grave of someone you may or may not know personally. Remember the gallant victories they won for us! Toast to those who did not make it back but were a part of history making that you will probably never have to face in the front lines of enemy shores. Then, pray for those who are still out on tour protecting our freedom … allowing us to enjoy our day off while they watch our backs.
At this time, I would like to thank my family members, such as my Dad, Uncles, Brothers, as well as all my friends, who fought for my freedom…your freedom…our freedom!
